RESEARCH MASTERS
SERIOUS GAMES FOR LOW ENERGY BUILDING CONSTRUCTION WORKER TRAINING.
Serious Game
I am currently completing the second year of a full-time research masters at TU Dublin Blanchardstown Campus. I was successful in applying for a fully funded scholarship to work with Shaun Ferns, Matt Smith and Mark Keyes on a project designing, developing and testing a serious game in order to investigate the effectiveness of using serious games as training and educational tools in the construction industry. I have successfully completed my first year evaluation, and am currently using an iterative design process for the development and testing of the game. This project involves using 3D game developing software such as Unity 3D and Blender to design and develop the serious game. When developed, the game will be tested during multiple focus groups to discover, test and evaluate the potential of using serious games as teaching and training tools in the construction industry.
FINAL YEAR PROJECT
Interactive Story App
Missing You
A Children’s Interactive Story About Coping with Death. Missing you is a solo work created as my Final Year Project. This project took place over the course of 1 academic year. This project involved researching children’s story books, mainly any regarding bereavement. Implementing findings from the research to create a story for my project. Regularly meeting with Barnardo’s Bereavement and Irish Childhood Bereavement Network to get expert opinions on my story and how to could be improved. Software used to create this project was Unity 3D, Fungus, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. I ran user testing in a primary school during early stages of the project. The project was refined based on the feedback and results from UX testing. The interactive story was then turned into an app which is available on the Playstore.
